First Aid Applicators
Applicators for wound swabbing and topical medicine application
The proper first aid kit supplies for applying topical such as burn creams, antiseptic ointment and other similar medications are cotton tip applicators. Being sterile, these first aid instruments are preferable over using your fingers to apply topical since fingers can bring with them the hazard of infection. Commonly called cotton swabs, applicators can also be used to clean the area surrounding a wound, cleaning the external ear and applying make-up.
In the event of a cut or wound, your personnel may not think twice about applying antiseptic cream onto the wound with their fingers. This is okay if they have clean hands or if they take the time to wash their hands properly. Unfortunately a lot of people may not have that kind of initiative in mind; a worker would rather be thinking of applying first aid immediately to the wound. This would open up your worker to the danger infection. To prevent this, be sure to keep a pack of applicators in your workplace first aid kit and remind personnel to always use this first aid instrument as a means to apply topical medicine.
