Ice packs are a welcome addition to any first aid kit. Choose from reusable packs which can be chilled in a freezer to disposable ones which can be used anywhere since it uses a chemical solution to cool the pack. These cooling devices are necessary in providing cold compress therapy to muscles and joints which may have been strained or sprained through hard labor or a bad slip. Proper application of the cold compress has been shown to speed up healing and in some cases lessen the pain and discomfort caused by the injury.
