According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 70 million people sought treatment for musculoskeletal disorders or MSDs. MSDs accounted for 34 percent of all workplace injuries and illnesses in 2012, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
This is, understandably, an area of concern for employers since employees suffering from MSDs would most certainly take time off work. Not to mention, productivity will also take a hit since affected workers will work slower or take more breaks.
Providing your workforce with the proper ergonomics equipment like back braces, kneeling pads and wrist supports not only helps prevent MSDs but is one of the recommended solutions to MSDs prevention according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
